Looking to update the display name shown on your WhatsApp profile? Follow the steps in this article to make the change.
The whole process involves two steps:
1. Submitting and Approving Your New Display Name
2. Updating this new name by re-registering phone number
Step 1 – Add a new Display Name
Follow these steps to add and get your new phone number approved:
1. Navigate to the Phone Numbers page in WhatsApp Manager and ensure the correct WhatsApp account is selected from the top right corner.
2. Now click on the edit icon next to your current name.
3. That’ll open a popup like the following that you can use to add a new name
4. After you submit this form, it’ll take approximately 24 – 48 hours for the WhatsApp team to review your name and either approve or reject it. They’ll send you a notification to inform you about this.
5. After your new Display Name gets approved, you cross check it by click on the View button under Certificate column. It’ll show both your current and new display name.
After your new display name is approved, you need to update it in your account settings to ensure it is displayed correctly to users. This will help maintain consistency across your business communications on WhatsApp.
Step 2 – Re-register Your Phone Number to Update the New Display Name
To ensure your new display name is updated everywhere, follow the steps below. The process differs slightly for the embedded signup flow and custom API credentials setup—we have outlined both methods below.
1. Navigate to WhatsApp Settings > Tools on BroadlyNotifier and click the Register button.
2. In the popup that appears, enter 123456 as the PIN and click Register. If you previously set up Two-Step Verification with your own PIN, enter that instead of 123456.
That’s it. That’ll update your Display Name both on your WhatsApp account and on BroadlyNotifier.
